Five reasons to buy property on the Costa del Sol

Following the economic crisis, the UK has had a more positive economic recovery than many of its European counterparts. This has left some Brits being better off than they have been for nearly a decade.

Those fortunate enough to jet off for a holiday on the Costa del Sol are enjoying favourable exchange rates making their holidays considerably cheaper. Those looking to make the Costa del Sol a permanent base or are investing a holiday home could not have chosen a better time to have done so.

1. Bargain properties

Many say that the property crisis is now over in Spain. Property prices on the Costa del Sol rose slightly in March 2015 by 0.2%. This may not be a huge increase but it however still significant as this was the first increase in property prices since the start of 2008.
If you are British and armed with a surplus amount of sterling there are many bargains to be had as average property prices have fallen around 48% in the past seven years. House building has been brought under tighter controls therefore property prices are going to be far more stable than they have been for a while.

2. The weather

Summer weather has come very early to the Costa del Sol this year with temperatures rising above 30 degrees in May. This is 10 degrees higher than the normal average. Although it may be hotter than normal, glorious sunshine is something that is quite normal after all it is called the coast of sun.
The extra heat has allowed holiday makers to sunbathe for longer giving them the opportunity to return home with an even better tan than expected. For expats living on the Costa the warmer weather leads to a more active lifestyle with more time spent walking, swimming, enjoying the pool and the beach.
The sun definitely makes you happier and the long warm evenings make your social life far more enjoyable as you dine and drink outside. The fresh air puts a spring in your step and you feel more rejuvenated.

3. The food

The increased popularity of Spanish cuisine has led to the now common sight of Spanish tapas bars and restaurants on many a cities high street. Although they are good they are just not the same as the real thing.
Four words sum up Spanish food, simple, tasty, balanced and cheap. Spanish cuisine is amongst the healthiest in the world and eating out will not break the bank. The quality is good and that quality can be found all along the coast.

4. Family time

Spaniards live long and happy lives that are centred on the family. Family gatherings see grandparents and children helping equally. In Spain children are revered and the elderly are respected.
There are plenty of activities to do as a family or individually as a child, parent or grandparent. There are good schools and sports clubs, great golf courses, shopping centres and the peace and quiet of the country on your doorstep for those peaceful relaxing times.

5. Easy to get to

Malaga International airport is the third busiest airport in Spain and as such has great connections to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Most flights from the UK are less than three hours and all the budget airlines fly into Malaga making the trip quick and pocket friendly.
The central location of the airport makes most of the resorts on the Costa del Sol less than an hour’s drive from the airport. The easy access via the motorway and coastal road that stretches along the coast makes the resorts easily accessible not only from the airport but taking a trip out for the day.
