Five reasons why Spain is just better than the rest

Spain has always attracted various types of tourists, home buyers and holiday makers. The country has a variety of attractions that range from modern to historic, natural to man-made beauty and virtually unknown gems to popular destinations.

So why is Spain better than the rest?

1. The beach life
With thousands of kilometres of coastline and beaches it is easy to understand why Spain is the number destination for a beach holiday. The data taken from 3.5 million users of the comparison website TravelSuperMarket.com shows that 4 out of the top 5 most searched holiday destinations were in Spain.
The Spanish Islands of Mallorca, Tenerife, Ibiza and Lanzarote all appeared in the top 5 with only Portugal’s Algarve breaking the Spanish stranglehold. Marbella on the Costa del Sol featured in the top 15.

2. Sun, sun and more sun
Usually the most important aspects of a holiday are affordability, the fun factor, a chance for relaxation and probably the most important aspects, sun, sun and more sun.
Spain has guaranteed good weather with some destinations such as the Costa del Sol enjoying good weather all year round and boasting around 320 days of sunshine per year. So far this year Spain has had three separate heat waves with temperatures reaching over 40 degrees regularly over the past 2 months.

3. A home from home
In Europe Spain has the oldest and probably most well-known second home market. This allows Spain to offer holidaymakers, tourists and potential expats plenty of property choice and type. For expats it offers employment, schooling and socialising opportunities and at this present time the most attractive market also.
With property prices on the Costa del Sol around 40% below pre-crisis prices and starting to show signs of a recovery a home, a second home or holiday home in Spain is a safe, affordable and attractive investment.

4. Safety factor
Tunisia’s devastating terror attack that saw 30 British tourists murdered and Turkey’s proximity to Iraq and Syria and their ongoing internal struggles as well as the threat from ISIS has put off a large number of tourists visiting these areas.
Then there is Greece’s serious and major economic problems and the internal unrest in Egypt have brought negative attention which potential tourists to these areas are sitting up and taking note.
Terrorism is a global threat and any part of Europe is a potential target which makes the holiday areas of Spain and the Costa del Sol as safe as anywhere else, if not safer which is why 2015 looks to be another record breaking year for tourism as people steer away from the troubled areas of the Mediterranean.

5. The economy
To think that just 5 years ago Spain was suffering more than most due to the financial crisis which saw high unemployment, property prices dropping by half, a complete halt in the construction industry and a large number of Spanish people jumping ship to more stable countries in search of employment.
Today unemployment is at its lowest level for 4 years, the property market and construction sector has stabilised and is beginning to grow, tourism is at record levels particularly on the Costa del Sol and the Spanish economy looks set to grow by 3.3% in 2015 which makes Spain one of the healthiest economies in Europe.
