Europe’s most popular holiday destination on its way to set a new record

The tourism boom continues unabated in Spain. The month of January set a new historical record for both tourist arrivals and spending: nearly 4.2 million visitors came to Spain, a 2.2% rise from the same month last year, and they spent a total €4.7 billion, 3.6% more than in January 2018.
Spain has always been a popular tourist destination as you can practically guarantee good weather, but the figures recently released for the first quarter this year have exceeded expectations.
So in the first three months of 2019 the number of tourists visiting Spain increased by 3.7% and exceeded 14.2 million that is a lot of people looking for holiday accommodation.
In March this year a staggering 5.6 million international tourists visited Spain, 4.7% more than in the same month of 2018. Interestingly the United Kingdom was the top country for tourists to Spain, with over 1.1 million visitors, accounting for 19.7% of the total.
Germany and France were the following countries with the most tourists visiting Spain. Among the other countries visiting Spain, the annual growth was particularly noteworthy in tourists coming from Russia (27.2%), Portugal (23.6%) and the United States (18.4%).
In March, the number of tourists choosing market accommodation as the main type of accommodation increased by 3.9% in the annual rate. Within this type, hotel accommodation grew by 4.4%, while private rented accommodation grew by 2.4% and is the second most popular type of accommodation.
This is a great time to be investing in properties on the Costa del sol and Costa Blanca; the demand for holiday accommodation is increasing year on year, last year Spain was the second most visited country in the world, recording 82.8 million tourists which marked the sixth consecutive year of record-beating numbers, 2019 looks like to be another record breaking year.
