July was Spain’s hottest month on record

Spain’s national weather agency has confirmed that the month of July was the hottest month ever recorded in Spain.

The country encountered three separate heat waves in July and temperatures in Spain were often way above the normal average temperature.

The agency’s data showed that the average temperature across Spain for July stood at 26.5 degrees Celsius and the hottest recorded temperatures were found in Andalucia, home to the Costa del Sol. The average temperature for the month in Andalucia was 28.2 degrees Celsius and the two hottest places were Cordoba and Seville both recording highs of 45.2 degrees Celsius. However unofficial reports suggest that Seville encountered higher temperatures than those recorded.

The summer of 2015 so far has been the hottest and driest on record with the Costa del Sol enjoying day time temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius regularly since the beginning of May.
